How to Remove Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath Virus?

Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath Virus (March 2025 Threat Report)

Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath
!#CMD:Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath virus

Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath (!#CMD:Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath)is an advanced fileless Trojan targeting Windows 11 and Windows 10 systems. First observed this week, it weaponizes system environment variables (%APPDATA%, %TEMP%) to bypass security software through these technical maneuvers:

  • Modifies PATH variables to prioritize malicious DLLs in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\
  • Creates forged Windows Defender exclusions via Add-MpPreference -ExclusionPath PowerShell cmdlets
  • Injects code into svchost.exe using Thread Execution Hijacking

Reports from Victims:

“I’ve encountered the virus !#CMD:Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath, and every time I restart my computer, it seems to reinstall itself and prevents me from removing it. The affected file is my Windows PowerShell Amsi . This virus also interferes with Windows Defender, sometimes even disabling it.How can I get rid of this virus? It’s becoming a serious issue as it keeps coming back after each restart and hampers my system’s security!”
– Jason R., (Windows 11 23H2)

“After installing a ‘PDF Converter’ from a forum, Windows Defender kept reporting !#CMD:Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath threat on my PC. When I press the remove button, nothing happens. Worse, every time I restart my computer, similar threats appear, seemingly duplicating themselves. I’m not sure how harmful they are, but it’s concerning. I’ve tried various methods to address the issue, including using Tron, but nothing has worked so far.”
– Paul, (Windows 10 LTSC)

Windows Defender detected the Trojan:Win32/TrapsCommonPath virus, indicating that “action is needed.” I chose to remove it as advised, and also tried quarantining it, but the same message keeps appearing. Even after using  Kaspersky, , and AVG remover, none of which found any issues, the “action is needed” alert still persists. Does anyone have suggestions on how to effectively eliminate this threat? It’s frustrating that multiple tools haven’t resolved the issue.

Jam, (Windows 11)
